By default, ads will be displayed on Firefox in Windows 10.
This depends on the Privacy and Security option you have chosen.
If you have selected “Standard” tracking protection for Firefox, you should be able to see most of the display ads. But your pop-up ads will be blocked.
This is useful if you want to see Google Ads on different websites which are useful for informational and personalized needs.
In case, you are not seeing these ads, then you can unblock them using this option.
- Click the 3 horizontal bars at the top right-hand side corner.
- Click on “Options”.
- You can also type “about:preferences” in the address bar.
- Click on “Privacy & Security” on the left-hand side.
- There are 3 different types of Enhanced Tracking Protection.

- Standard
- Strict
- Custom
- If you have chosen the “Strict” option, even the display ads will be blocked.
To see normal ads like Google Display ads, you can select the “Standard” option. Pages will also load normally. This option is best for protection and performance.

In addition to allowing display ads on different sites, you can also get normal tracking protection. This includes –
- Social media trackers.
- Cross-site tracking cookies
- Tracking content in Private windows
- Cryptominers
- Fingerprinters
If you have selected the “Strict” option, some sites or content may break. It will also block the normal display ads.
How to Clear Cookie Data to Make Sure Display Ads are Shown
In the above case, if the ads are still not shown, than you can clear your cookies.
Press Ctrl + Shift + Del keys together to open the “Clear All History” pop-up.
You can select the “Cookies” and “Cache” options mainly. The rest are optional. Then, you can select the time range to “Everything” if its the first time. Otherwise, you can select an appropriate time. This will make sure, the recent web page is loaded. It will also remove any cache problems related to the site.
