The best way to convert NSF to PST file format is to use a third-party tool (We will talk about it little later). IBM Lotus Notes is used by many standard software organizations. They archive their contacts, emails, calendars, appointments, search entries into .nsf files. It is synonymous to Microsoft Outlook for Windows users.
Why you should migrate from Lotus Notes to Outlook Platform in 2019
As we know IBM is an high-end client which uses complicated resoures and costly equipment. Due to this the maintenance costs of the software are also high. Lotus notes is more oriented towards big industries and organizations.
Microsoft on the other hand has more easy-design interface and less productivity costs compared to IBM. So more and more SMBs are shifting to MS Outlook, Exchange server and Office 365 platforms for easy inter-operability, ease-of-use and less software costs.
Also Outlook PST format is more supportive for other industry oriented tools like analytical, AI tools etc. This makes conversion of NSF to PST format mandatory when you are shifting platform, personal use and put costs under control.
How to Use NSF to PST Converter from MailsDaddy
As we mentioned earlier, the tool I mentioned before is MailsDaddy NSF To PST Converter. You can use this tool to convert multiple .nsf files to .pst format without much lag in time. This can be done in Windows itself.
So if you are already using Windows 7 or 8.1 or 10, you just have to install IBM Lotus notes on your desktop or laptop. This is the link to install and configure it.
Then you have to download MailsDaddy NSF to PST Converter at this link.
The following are the steps for NSF to PST file conversion
Step 1: Just run the .exe and install the software. You can use the limited demo version or activate the full version after purchase.
Step 2: The initial screen will appear after starting the application. There are 3 options provided to add .nsf files.
Add File(s): By using this option you can add single as well as multiple NSF files manually.
Add Folder: By using this option you can add a folder which contains Lotus Notes NSF files.
Search Files: This option will help you to auto locate all NSF file from the selected folder or drive.
Note : Since I’m testing this software, I used the search option to find .nsf files. It is interesting to find that there are lot of test files in the IBM Lotus Notes application itself.
Step 3: The .nsf file will open in the converter software with all the individual items like Calendar, Contacts, Search Items, Drafts etc. Each individual data type can be saved like messages and attachments if required.
Step 4: Now click the Export button. There are several options.
1. Export All Folders
2. Export Selected Folders
3. Export All Contacts
4. Export All Calendars
The PST Export option provides a way to convert the NSF files and folders to a separate PST for each NSF file or a single PST file.
Step 5: The software starts the conversion process and you can pause or resume it.
Note: For me, for a 20MB .nsf file conversion to .pst format required 10 minutes of time. The following is the system configuration. The output file (a single .pst file) is of approx. 80MB size.
How to open the Converted PST file in Outlook 2016 or 2013 or 2010
After opening the Outlook program (I have tested with 2013 program), click on
File > Open & Export > Open Outlook Data file.
Then you see your NSF file or folders converted, under MailsDaddy. Just navigate through the items, to find your desired messages, contacts etc.
The whole NSF to PST file conversion process using MailsDaddy can be seen here, in the video below.
I loved installing the Lotus application on my Windows 10 64 bit after the 1809 update. It was very easy to install. The working of MailsDaddy NSF to PST Converter did not require the use of any other software or clients.
The installation of this software was also easy. Once you download, open it like any other software. Then you can locate the NSF files in your system and complete the export process very easily.
I checked the converted PST file. It successfully opened in MS Outlook 2013 without any problems.
