Windows 8 Command Prompt in Elevated Mode – “Run As Administrator”

I installed Windows 8 32 bit version lately on my desktop. I started browsing its features. One of the first questions I got is, how will I run Windows command prompt with administrator privileges ? This is sometimes necessary when you want to execute system commands in your OS.

How to Run Windows 8 “CMD” as Admin ?

You can guess it, once you are familiar with the interface. It required me less learning curve than I anticipated. The steps are as below:

  • Go to Search and type “cmd” in the search box.

There are two methods of activating this.

You either can move your mouse to the bottom right of the screen. The Charms bar will open and from it you can click Search. The other way around is to press the Win key and type “cmd”. This will automatically open the “CMD” (or command prompt) app.

  • “Cmd” app appears on the left side of the screen. Right-click on it.

This will open up other options at the bottom. One of the options is “Run As Administrator”.

  • Click on that option.

The default UAC opens asking you permission to open “Command Prompt”. Say Ok.

That’s it! You are through running “cmd” in elevated command mode.

My Windows 8 Experience!

My cause to run Windows 8 Command prompt with “Run as Administrator” privileges was to activate Windows. [Cheeky: Using the activator I downloaded from the torrent site]. First it was not easy to find, as I was new to Windows 8, though I did several reviews on it. Finally I found a simple solution which I would like to share with my readers.

First of all I would like to say, that I liked Windows 8 very much on the desktop. The tiles were simply fascinating. They were big, different from the Windows 7 icons. Also, it required fewer steps to navigate through several apps or programs.

Also the browsing with Internet Explorer 10 in Metro UI was simpler and was full screen.
